Online Poker Betting Hearing Scheduled for August 21st
The hearing for return of property, namely over $14 million in online poker funds, was originally scheduled for Friday, August 14th at 1:30pm Pacific Time. However, it has now been pushed back one week. In addition, the motion filed by the 1.2 million member strong Poker Players Alliance (PPA) to submit an amicus brief has been accepted. The Southern District’s memo reads, “The court has considered the application of third-party Poker Players Alliance to appear in this matter as amicus curiae in support of Movant Account Services Corporation.” The PPA must file its amicus brief by August 7th, one week before the hearing.
Looking forward to the Accounts Services hearing four weeks from now is PPA Executive Director John Pappas, who told Poker News Daily, “This is a very important hearing. The PPA will be submitting an amicus brief for it and will be available to testify as well. We think that the arguments outlined in Account Services’ brief are excellent and should prevail.” The PPA is fresh off holding a wildly successful National Poker Week and Fly-In event in Washington, DC. Over 100 meetings with lawmakers and their staffs were held to push for the legalization of online poker in the United States.

Community Card Poker Games
Community card poker is a type or variant of poker that uses cards that are dealt face up to the center of the table and shared by all players. In these games, each player is dealt privately an incomplete hand ("hole cards"), which is then combined with the community cards to make a complete hand. The set of community cards is called the "board" or the "widow", and may be dealt in a simple line or arranged in a special pattern. The rules of the particular community card poker game determine how these may be combined with each player's private hand.
In home games, it is typical to use antes, while casinos typically use only blinds for these games. Fixed limit games are most common in casinos, while spread limit games are more common in home games. No limit and pot limit games are less common, but some games play particularly well with those structures.
The later betting rounds often have a higher limit than earlier betting rounds. Each betting round begins with the player to the dealer's left (when blinds are used, the first round begins with the player after the big blind), so community card games are generally positional games.
Most community card games do not play well with lowball hand values, though some do play very well at high-low split, especially with ace-to-five low values, making it possible to win both halves of a pot. When played high-low split, there is generally a minimum qualifying hand for low (often 8-high), and it is played cards speak.
The most important types of Community Card Poker Games are:
- Texas Hold 'em Poker
- Omaha Hold 'em Poker
Other variants include:
- Manila
- Pinatubo
- Cincinnati
- Iron Cross
- Chowaha
- Tic Tac Toe
- Lame-Brain Pete
- Six-Pack
- Bel-Aire

Online Poker Tips - Online Poker Betting
Pay attention
Watch who's playing in an aggressive or loose way and who's playing tight, try to play the loose players and avoid the tight players, unless you've got a strong hand.
Watch the chips
Always be aware of everyone's chip count. Know who has more chips than you and play more carefully against them - a mistake could knock you out. It's usually better to play pots with players who have fewer chips than you do.
No match
If your cards don't match any of the community cards, throw your hand away when someone else bets.
Ace in the hand
Don't play every time you have an ace in your hand. However, play an ace if it's accompanied by a card of the same suit or by a 10 or higher.
Hands to stay with before the flop
Play with pairs (7-7, 9-9), two face cards (K-Q, Q-J), or hands that can make both a straight and a flush (8-9, 6-7 of the same suit). Be patient and fold other hands, unless you're in the blind.
Good hand? Bet strong
In no-limit Texas Hold'em, players can bet all of their chips at any time, so bet aggressively when you have a good hand.
Watch and wait
Play fewer hands when you're one of the first players to act, because you'll be 'out of position' and vulnerable to raises from the remaining players.
Wait your turn
Do not act until it is your turn; play proceeds clockwise at the poker table.
Be a 'bettor,' not a 'caller'
Being aggressive is good.
Call their bluff
If someone raises in a late position (near or on the button), re-raise them a good amount if you are on the blind. Chances are, they don't have a big hand and they're just trying to steal your blinds. (This style of play, known as going 'over the top', is probably the strongest play one can make in no-limit Texas Hold'em.)
Be patient
The biggest mistake most players make is to act too quickly. When you're making an important decision pause to think about how the betting has gone and what your opponent might have. Take your time.

World Series Of Online Poker Betting 2009 Main Event Final Table
The final day of play came to a head fast as players were dropping like flies. The drama ensued until only ten players were left, with one player left to be eliminated. The Amazon was filled with tension as the final player was just moments away from being eliminated.
The final table was decided as Jordan Smith, the recent winner of a WSOP bracelet in the $2k no limit hold’em tournament, went up against Darvin Moon. Smith’s cards did not hold up against Moon’s flopped set so he was knocked out, leaving the nine players creating the November Nine.
Below is a list of the poker players who will be returning in November to compete for WSOP glory.

El Paso Online Poker Betting Player Has Success On Poker Tour
Most obviously, she's a young woman (31 years old) in a male-dominated game with a big smile and an outgoing personality.
In the ways that matter, though, she has plenty in common with anyone who consistently makes money at cards. Carrillo completely believes in herself.
"This year will be my starting point; I feel it with everything in me," she said. "I'm going to be a household name. I haven't put myself out there yet, but I'm going to. I'm going to be one of the players on TV everyone knows."
Carrillo's certainly on her way. Earlier this year, after a career that included plenty of big Texas No-Limit Hold 'Em payouts (A $53,000 prize three years ago stands out), she won her most prestigious tournament, a World Series of Online Poker Betting Circuit Event at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, and a gaudy ring that goes with it.

Bubble Trouble For Amateurs At World Series Of Poker
Of the 6,494 who started, 648 will be getting paychecks. When it got down to 649 players, the eliminations came to a halt because not one player went broke over 1 hour, 48 minutes, the longest such spell in WSOP history.
The bubble stage is often seen as a period of the tournament that separates the men from the boys.
Top pros, uninterested in the $21,365 prize for 648th place, will often get more aggressive at this stage and take advantage of those amateurs looking to hang on by playing conservatively.

Hellmuth changing his game at World Series of Poker
"This year I decided, let's play online poker," Phil Hellmuth told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "All those amateurs making all those crazy moves on me that they got away with in the past, this year I'm calling."
The 11-time gold bracelet winner has been known to avoid plays for all his chips in the past, because he believes he can outplay others without giving them a chance to get lucky.
That means that opponents have simply shoved all-in against him to respond to his extra-tight play.
"This year, when I do have a strong hand I win tons of chips because everybody's overplaying their hand against me," said Hellmuth, who won the no-limit Texas Hold 'em main event 20 years ago. "That's been a good strategy for players against me for years, is to just get all their money in, but not this year.

World Series of Poker players
While many players simply looked to get through their second sessions without being eliminated, some tried to accumulate large amounts of chips to make a deep run in the no-limit Texas Hold 'em tournament.
Actor Jason Alexander started the day among the chip leaders with nearly 90,000 chips, and said he gained about 20,000 more chips during the first two levels of play, but was back down to about 56,000 by the dinner break.
"I have no illusions about where I'm going to wind up in this thing," Alexander told The Associated Press. "My aggressiveness is counterbalanced by the fact that I just don't want to be stupid. And when you're a C-plus, B-minus player and you've got some chips, you can get stupid."
Alexander said he waThe player with the most tournament wins at the World Series of Poker says he's no longer avoiding aggressive opponents who threaten to knock him out of the main event this year.

Poker event turns away over 500 angry players

World Series of Poker Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack told players on Monday that he was sorry, but the tournament simply reached its limits and couldn’t accommodate more entries.
Roughly 2,700 players entered the tournament on Monday, the last day players are able to begin playing in the event. More than 500 people were rejected.
Officials expected to release the total prize pool and top prize later in the day. About 10 percent of roughly 6,400 players will earn money in the tournament.
Last year, Peter Eastgate won $9.15 million for beating 6,843 others in the $10,000 buy-in tournament.
